About Santa Cruz Wireless

Dick Walvis, Chief Engineer

For more than 20 years, Dick Walvis has been designing advanced products for the telecommunication industry. His designs have been incorporated in a wide range of industrial, commercial, and consumer products. He has developed receiver and transmitter architectures to support wired and wireless links for satellite, ground-to-air, cordless telephone, and power line applications.

For the last 8 years, Mr. Walvis has worked as an independent consultant with Walvis Engineering Group, now Santa Cruz Wireless.

Mr. Walvis's expertise combines analytical skills developed at Stanford Telecom (Communications Sciences Group) with the field experience gained at Granger Associates early in his career. In prior roles as manager of IR&D at Stanford Telecom (ASIC & Custom Products Division) and as CTO at AWT (Advanced Wireless Technologies), Mr. Walvis defined and directed new product development of ASICs and circuit boards for signal processing, spread spectrum, and complete receiver applications. While working at National Semiconductor as the Manager of Wireless Networking Engineering Design, Mr. Walvis led the development team that successfully brought a low cost data transceiver to production.

Mr. Walvis received his Ingenieurs degree from Delft University in the Netherlands in 1976.
